Here the more reserved and more complex if not more elegant nose offers up a well-layered mix of plum, dark cherry, anise and a whiff of newly turned earth. The succulent, round and attractively textured bigger-bodied flavors also exude plenty of minerality on the muscular yet seductive finish where the only nit is a hint of warmth. This too is excellent and a wine that should amply repay 10 to 12 years of cellaring.
